A trucker’s son, Little Robert grew up in the working-class world that his version of American music vividly portrays: The gritty etchings of life on the road, truck stops, honky tonks, cold beer, and hot women. Little Robert is an authentic seasoned, aggressive roots music singer, songwriter, and guitar-slinging frontman! Struggling in the late 80s to make it beyond the realm of a local singer-songwriter, and with a volatile attitude that teetered close to downright destructiveness, one night in 1996, Little Robert laid down his guitar and walked away from the music industry. Years later, he became bored with being a musical spectator and, after buying a new guitar, he began to play again.
This Life is American Music
Little Robert isn’t just an entertainer; he’s a singer and songwriter with a conscience. His songs are about dreams, love, life, and longing. Little Robert is an aggressive, seasoned powerhouse with an outlaw soul, forged in honky tonk bars playing guitar. Born with a presence that commands attention and a talent that leaves audiences in awe, Little Robert knows how to bring the heat and keep the party rocking all night long. Still not convinced?
Listen to This Life by Little Robert……
The song “This Life” is a raw, honest, and gritty testament to the roots of American music at its best. The Clashing bell ring of Little Robert’s guitar begins the song “This Life”, a musical excitation told from the perspective of a Union trucker’s son, his rebuke of unrequited love compounded by growing up hard and fast. Left to fend for himself at a young age, Little Robert pushed on without fear in the lower middle-class working world he was abandoned after his father was killed in a hijacking gone wrong in Northern California.
Life, longing, and the effects of a hard life coupled with unrequited love drive this raw guitar and vocal “unballad” as a tribute to the world’s vagabonds and their journey elsewhere. Little Robert’s music captures the essence of American roots music, with its tales of hardship, resilience, and the unyielding spirit of those who live on the margins.
